The Basics
Registered Name: Rookery
Nickname: Rook
Age: 2
Breed: Thoroughbred
Colour & Markings: Dapple Grey w/ four black socks
Height: 16.2 hh
Gender: Colt
Personality:
Rook is a mild tempered colt who lives up to his tricky name. It was feared that his 'lack of fire' would hinder his racing career but he has since changed everyone's mind. He may not be a fiery handful however his intelligence is without fault and his stamina as a two year old is admirable. Rook is the kind of horse who is consistent and can be counted upon to perform at his best at each and every race. His intelligence has made him malleable at training sessions and has had the added effect of endearing him to everyone who sits on his back. It is hoped that this lovely colt will be the bright star, and corner stone of Darlington Rook Stables.

Dirt: Great

Distance: 9-12
Leg Type: Mid Pack w/ strong close
Rook breaks well and does his best work when he's settled into the front half of the middle pack. His optimal leg is a semi-fast break and to be settled into the middle pack by the first quarter and then to close hard and quickly in the last two furlongs, his speed during this time is an incredible change of pace and as long as it's timed well he will have no trouble breaking from the pack. Alternatively, if he gets boxed in at the back half of the middle pack his stamina is such that he will swing wide earlier in the race and close from there. It is a slower way to make up the ground but again, if timed well (too early and his pace will drop in the final fight), he has the ability to push on at a great pace until the line. He performs well taking a wider circuit than most horses in the close as he doesn't seem to need to be close to the competition to really fire up and take on the challenge.
